1. API Access
API access is granted by BedWatch Africa via a scoped API key. Keys are available with the following access scopes:
- read:beds — real-time and historical bed availability data
- read:facilities — facility directory and verified facility information
- read:stats — aggregate platform statistics
- read:emergency_insights — surge alerts, emergency flag aggregates, district-level emergency data
- read:idsr — disease cluster and IDSR surveillance data
2. Data Use Restrictions
Partner organisations agree to:
- Use API data only for the stated purpose approved by BedWatch Africa
- Not re-identify individual subscribers from aggregated or anonymised data
- Not share API keys with third parties
- Not use data for commercial purposes without a separate commercial agreement
- Cite BedWatch Africa as the data source in any publications or reports using this data
- Notify BedWatch Africa of any data breach or unauthorised access immediately
3. Data Accuracy Disclaimer
BedWatch Africa makes no warranty about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of data available through the API. Government agencies and research institutions must apply their own validation and quality control processes before relying on this data for policy decisions.
4. API Availability
BedWatch Africa does not guarantee API uptime. The API is provided on a best-efforts basis. Partners requiring guaranteed uptime SLAs should contact BedWatch Africa to discuss a formal service agreement.
