Last updated: August 2026

Plain language summary — full legal terms below

These terms apply in addition to the general Terms and Conditions for international visitors and diaspora subscribers. They cover USD pricing, optional encrypted passport/insurance data storage for generating insurance documentation, and GDPR rights for EU/UK subscribers.

1. Visitor Subscription Plans

Visitor plans are priced in US Dollars (USD) and processed via Stripe:

  • Short Stay (up to 30 days): $15
  • Extended Stay (up to 3 months): $35
  • Long Stay (up to 6 months): $60
  • Resident Annual (12 months): $100
  • Resident Family Annual (12 months, up to 5): $160

Visitor plans do not currently include BERF access. BERF is available on GHS annual plans only.

2. Passport and Insurance Data

Visitor accounts may collect passport information and travel insurance details for the purpose of generating international insurance claim documentation. This data is:

  • Encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
  • Never shared with third parties except as required to generate insurance documents you request
  • Stored only for the duration of your subscription plus 12 months for insurance claim purposes
  • Accessible only by you and authorised BedWatch Africa staff

3. International Insurance Documentation

BedWatch Africa can generate a standardised post-treatment document for insurance claim purposes when a visitor subscriber has received emergency treatment at a verified partner facility. This document:

  • Is generated based on information provided by the treating facility and the subscriber
  • Is verified by BedWatch Africa administrative staff before issuance
  • Is not a guarantee of insurance reimbursement by any insurer
  • Must be submitted to your own insurer according to your policy terms
  • May require additional documentation from the treating facility

BedWatch Africa is not an insurance company and does not make any representation about whether your insurer will accept this documentation or reimburse any claim.

4. GDPR Compliance (EU and UK Subscribers)

For subscribers based in the European Union or United Kingdom, BedWatch Africa processes your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR. Your rights include:

  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

The legal basis for processing visitor data is: contract performance (for service delivery), legitimate interests (for platform security), and consent (for optional data such as passport details).

5. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your home country, including in Ireland (EU-West-1 region) where some services are hosted. All international data transfers comply with applicable data transfer mechanisms including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
